OG Elementary & Intermediate Parent(s) & Guardian(s),

       As we conclude another week of school here at the Orange Grove Elementary and Intermediate Schools, I would like to share the following information on a handful of school-related items.

(1) JWC Fair Holidays - As you may already know, the annual Jim Wells County Fair is just on the horizon. As a result of this agriculture county event, our school and its staff and students will enjoy school holidays starting on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, through Friday, October 26, 2018. Please note that school will be in session on Monday and Tuesday, October 22-23, 2018. Historically, our elementary and intermediate campuses have had poor attendance on such school days for whatever reason. I am asking all our parents and guardians for assistance in reversing such trend. I would like to maximize the instructional and academic value of such days by having high attendance on such days. Your assistance in such regard is greatly appreciated.

(2) Thanksgiving Holidays & Luncheons - Please note that our school district will enjoy its Thanksgiving holidays the entire week of November 19-23, 2018, with classes resuming at normal hours on Monday, November 26, 2018. In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, our elementary campus will have its annual Elementary Thanksgiving luncheon on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, and the Intermediate will have its yearly Intermediate Thanksgiving luncheon on Friday, November 16, 2018. Please note that a letter will be sent home with all our elementary and intermediate students in the next couple of weeks with more information and details in this regard. Hope to see you there.

(3) Dairy Queen Honor Roll Visits - At the 3rd-grade through 5th-grade, those students who made the A or A/B honor roll for the first six weeks will enjoy lunch at the local Dairy Queen restaurant on the following dates. Please be on the look out for your child's permission form that will contain all the corresponding information. Please note that the second-grade first six weeks honor roll incentive will be a snow cone party on Tuesday, October 24, 2018, during a designated time during the school day. Congrats to all our elementary and intermediate students who earned such incentive.

(4) Campus Fall Fundraisers - Both the elementary and intermediate campuses have finished with their Fall campus-wide fundraiser. The intermediate campus Fall fundraiser was the sale of bulldog spirit t-shirts. This fundraiser started in the summer and continued through the middle of the first six weeks. This year our intermediate campus sold $6,844.00 in t-shirts. This translated to a profit for the intermediate campus of $3,422.00. As to the elementary campus, its usual Fall fundraiser is a catalog sale. Our elementary campus partnered up with A-Plus School Solutions for such fundraiser. This fundraiser just ended Monday, October 1, 2018. Our elementary students sold a total of $14,779.00 in merchandise. This translates to a total profit of $7,389.50. Please note that these intermediate and elementary profits, which combined for a total of $10,811.50, will be used to enhance the educational experience of all our students on both campuses throughout this current 2018-19 school year.
