Welcome to Mrs. McCoy's class!
I started teaching in Orange Grove in 2014. I have been teaching special education since 2009. I have come from a large school district in Corpus Christi to this great school district in small town, Orange Grove. I am so happy to be here and work with the students and faculty at Orange Grove Intermediate.
I obtained my Bachelor's of Science degree from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in 1994. I continued working on my Masters degree earning 30 hours of course work in Biology (specifically Ornithology). At that time, I started my own business after working for both Texas Parks and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife. I owned my own business for 13 years. I decided my true passion was in teaching. I sold my business and went to school to become a high school science teacher. At my first interview, I was asked to teach Special Education, which I did for the last seven years. I am so happy now to be back in science, working with the fifth graders at Orange Grove Intermediate. Eventually, I would like to move to high school science. But for now, I am happy to be here.
Every person has an opportunity to learn and we all learn in different ways. My goal is to determine the best way each student learns and help them excel to their highest ability. I want to make sure all students are successful and move on to bigger, better things when they are adults.
I love the bulldogs!
